By: Dwain Berlin

Broadway In Las Vegas
Once known primarily for gambling and high tech flash, Las Vegas is quickly earning a reputation as a serious theatre location as well. New theatres have been built in Las Vegas to accommodate this growing industry. Vegas has come to be known as "Broadway West" and is home to many current and former Broadway shows. It is also turning out to be a popular place to launch new shows as well.
Mamma Mia!
The musical featuring the music of ABBA, is frequently sold out. This international musical success is also playing on Broadway and in several other notable venues besides maintaining a permanent spot in Las Vegas. Mamma Mia! is performed at the Mandalay Theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's incredibly successful production is now performed in a special-built, $40 million theatre at the Venetian.
Broadway musical Avenue Q also ran in Las Vegas during 2005 - 2006. Avenue Q, a satirical spin on Sesame Street, ended its Las Vegas run during the summer of 2006.
Spamalot
Monty Python's Spamalot is currently being performed at the Grail Theatre inside the Wynn Las Vegas. Spamalot took over the theatre being used by Avenue Q. Spamalot is a musical borrowed from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Las Vegas is quickly developing a reputation as a first-rate theatre location. Theatre lovers no longer need to travel to New York to see the latest hot musicals as more and more shows are coming to Las Vegas.
Even More Variety
Las Vegas theatre-goers can also watch a myriad of other non-Broadway productions. Cirque du Soleil has several shows running now at different venues in Las Vegas. Bally's Jubilee! is an adults only production featuring seven acts and nearly 100 performers. There are plenty of quality shows to see when you are in Las Vegas.
